Watercolour painting using the wet-on-wet technique

Don't settle for a traditional course anymore!

Aquarelle Corinne Vilcaz

In my painting as in my classes, I practise and teach wet-on-wet watercolour painting, a technique I love for its fluidity and lightness.

Water becomes our true accomplice. It carries the pigments along, creates unique blends and allows the white of the paper to breathe. It is water that brings the work to life, making it vibrate and inspiring those who look at it to dream.

In watercolour, each element has its place, but all come together in a final harmony. We work on every detail so that it blends with the rest, and so that, under our brushes, the whole comes to life.

My wet-on-wet technique is a precious legacy, used by our ancestral masters, from ancient China to England with the famous Turner. Wet-on-wet watercolour has slowly emerged to dazzle us, until it became established in our Western countries.

But while the technique is universal, each artist is unique. Too often, we see the same gestures applied, resulting in works that are certainly magnificent, but often similar… not very distinctive.

For me, an artist must stand out, create their own signature, unique and recognisable among all others.

« My video lessons are one of a kind. You’ve probably never experienced a video lesson with live webcam feedback, have you?

It’s an original and unique idea that I created just for you! »

The DIFFERENCE is huge! Here, I can see you painting, guide you in real time, and transform your screen into your own personal studio.

Why? Because painting is above all about sharing, exchanging, connecting – a true union that water creates on our watercolours and in our classes.
I am not a talking image… I am a real person, in flesh and blood, who listens to you and responds to you! And I want to maintain the same quality of sharing as in our face-to-face courses.
For me, it’s not just a simple class, it’s a moment of humanity.

This innovative watercolour class is designed to offer you real-time artistic guidance, as if you were right there beside me. Thanks to videoconferencing with webcam feedback, I can observe every brushstroke, answer your questions immediately and guide you step by step through a unique and entirely personalised experience.

Experience an intimate, warm and interactive workshop without leaving your home — an exclusive artistic encounter, both rare and precious, that will make all the difference in your learning.

Just like my own creations, I want to guide you to master this technique perfectly, so that you can reveal your own uniqueness and authentic voice.

THE COURSE

1: The Subject
Depending on the level of the course you have chosen (beginner or intermediate), I will suggest a subject tailored to your learning needs. I will guide you slowly through its observation and artistic ‘interpretation’.

2: Video conferencing
The course takes place live via video conferencing software*. Once you have registered, you will receive all the necessary information by email so that you are ready on the day.

On the day of the course, you will see and hear me on your computer, as well as the subject on a large screen, as if it were right in front of you. You will be able to interact, ask questions, hear the other students, and follow the course to paint the subject, as if I were there with you.

All the information can be found in the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) below…

Attention and listening

This course is a unique and unprecedented opportunity, a live experience that will never be repeated in exactly the same way.

We will meet for two and a half hours each month, in a supportive environment, for a lively exchange, without recording or replay. Each session is an exclusive event, inviting you to immerse yourself fully in the moment, to share, ask questions, and paint in interaction with me and the other participants.

This time we spend together is precious: it is made for you, here and now, in the comfort of your own home, to fully savour your creative bubble, at your own pace, tailor-made and dedicated to your progress and enjoyment, in the comfort and privacy of your own home, just for you.

Watercolour lessons via video call. BEGINNER LEVEL

One of the great riches of wet-on-wet watercolour painting lies in the subtle relationship between water, paper and pigments. This is also what makes the technique complex: you have to learn about water — its quantity, its behaviour, its interaction with paper.

How do you know if you’ve used too much or too little water? We will address these questions step by step, with patience and kindness.

With several years of experience, I have developed a clear and accessible teaching method, specially designed to guide beginners through this technical maze.

You will learn to:
Discover your colour palette

– Make your first pigment mixtures
– Master your water-filled brushes
– Understand basic technical terms and uses
Manage water effectively
Understand artistic composition
Practise through simple exercises and your first painting subject
Make your first sketches and drafts
Real studio work, based solely on real subjects, to help you progress with confidence.

This intermediate-level course is designed to help you overcome these obstacles, refine your technique, and explore new possibilities.

On the programm:
– Setting up the composition, respecting the golden ratio
– Discovering complementary techniques: salt, water reserves, sponges, etc.
– Developing your speed for broader, more controlled wetness
– Stepping outside your comfort zone, overcoming your limitations and fears
– Creating larger, more elaborate subjects
– Real workshop work, exclusively on real subjects, to make in-depth progress and build confidence.

Watercolour course: I really learnt wet-on-wet watercolour painting for the first time, after many years of dabbling. See you soon for another course. Best wishes.

Watercolour course: "A formidable course in its perfection, as I was won over by your teaching skills (even if sometimes the students' application is not always immediately up to scratch... but with regular practice...) and by your willingness to adapt to each person's temperament. Learning can only be a pleasure under these conditions. Teaching in general is in such need of “formidable” people who share their passion. Very stimulating and very friendly. Many thanks for the welcome."
