Discover The Grand Palais
A historic place
The Grand Palais, an architectural gem from the early 20th century, is much more than just a building: it is a symbol of French artistic greatness.
Built for the 1900 World’s Fair, it combines stone, glass and metal in spectacular harmony, its monumental glass roof flooding the space with natural light and giving each work on display a unique brilliance.
For over a century, this majestic nave has welcomed visionary artists, from the Impressionists to the most daring avant-garde, leaving traces of the history of creation on its walls and floors.
Today, the Grand Palais once again resonates as a vibrant centre for contemporary art, hosting ART EN CAPITAL, the international event that brings together Paris’s leading contemporary art fairs. Among them, the Salon des Indépendants, founded in 1884 with the aim of creating a free and democratic space for artists outside the constraints of academia, continues this tradition of freedom and audacity.
